We Have A New Friend

Kev told me he had two options. He could throw it away or throw it on me.
I'm sure glad he chose the first option.

Hephzibah Middle School Retreat

Last weekend Kev and I went to NC to Wendell for Hephzibah's middle school retreat. Kev was a recreation minister there while in seminary and they asked him to come back and speak for the retreat. Of course I was excited when I found out I would be able to go with them and then had an It was a great time of visiting with old friends and a great get-a-way for the teenagers. The retreat was held at Fort Caswell in Oak Island, North Carolina. The theme was Bedrock Faith and we had a great time of worship and fellowship.

I was able to take Monday off of work so it allowed for us to stay for Sunday night church (which ended up being a business mtg - blah) and have S.N.A.C. with some friends. Monday we visited with the Overman's and we had fun playing with their youngest, Mia - she's a mess as you can see below. The weekend was a blessing to us and we we very tired once we got home!

Flintstones Dance Party

It's tradition that every night the girls get a bedtime story - the first night we read Max Lucado's You Are Special and the second night was a story Mel had about plates. I won't go into details because we had a very funny experience right in the middle of the story :)

Grandma and Mom - it was so much fun being able to visit with Grandma and have a sleepover at her house. Of course she cooked us a homemade favorite for dinner - her famous chicken cutlets - Yum-O!

Lil Mia - She is getting so big and I am loving her curls!

Naptime! I think Kev is definitely ready for kiddos soon!

Kristina's Weekend

While Kevin went to Nashville to celebrate the birth of Baby Will with TJ and Casey, I headed up to North Carolina for Kerie and Brent's wedding . Kerie is one of my girlfriends from high school and her wedding was actually less than 5 miles from where Kevin and I used to live in Huntersville.

Thursday my flight was delayed and I landed in Charlotte about 12:30 am on Friday. Angie was gracious enough to pick me up from the airport so late and by the time we got to her house, we ended up chatting until 3:00 am! Saturday morning rolled around and we were able to see her niece Lydia, have lunch with Denise (friend from our church in Charlotte) and visit with Angie's parents, Dennis and Marsha. Unexpectedly, Angie let me borrow her car for the weekend which was great since it allowed me to not have to rely on everyone for rides all weekend! To my surprise the wedding was going to be outdoors at the Birkdale Country Club and the weather was absolutely perfect for the occasion! We finished the evening with the rehearsal dinner at Jeffrey's in Mooresville and I left for Donna and Toogie's (friends from our church in Charlotte) house to spend the night!

After breakfast with Donna on Saturday morning, I headed to Birkdale to meet up with Marianne and Shawn to watch the Penn State game. The wedding was at 5:00 just as the sun was beginning to set. The weather was gorgeous, the bride looked magnificant and the time with my girlfriends was priceless. Kerie's brother's band played and needless to say, we danced the night away! It's just too bad the dj didn't have any Bone Thugs... As I flew home Sunday evening, I was reminded how blessed I am to have such amazing girlfriends. We have been out of high school for 10 years next year and even though we have gone our seperate ways, we always seem to find a way to make time for each other at least once a year. Becky B is living in Dallas, Becky J, Lauren, Leigh Anne and Linsdsey in the Raleigh/Durham area, Courtney and I are in Atlanta and Marianne is in Washington, DC. I am so grateful for their sweet friendship and can't wait until we have another excuse to get together!

Kevin's weekend

Kev's relaxing weekend at home (without the wife) ended up very busy because Baby Will was born! We got a call from TJ Thursday so we were anticipating his arrival. Friday Kev went to Alexander's homecoming game and three of our youth girls were on homecoming court. Looks like that had alot of fun - although I don't think the actual game went very well!

Since I was in NC, Kev traveled to Nashville on Saturday. Will was moved to NICU shortly before Kev got there, so he actually hasn't seen Will yet. He did get to visit with TJ and Casey and the rest of the Overstreet family. It was a blessing to him to visit with his friends.
